Kinetic Technology Art

The AI Arms Race

Power · Politics · The Price of Progress

A new technological arms race is reshaping the world. At the centre of it stands a component that was never meant to become art.

The Collection

One piece per manufacturer — the entire population of industrial designs that existed for the RTX 5090.

Genesis takes the outer shells of NVIDIA's RTX 5090 — the final consumer generation of the flagship graphics card — and presents them as kinetic sculpture. The processing silicon was removed before sale; what remains is enclosure, cooling assembly and fan.

Ways of Seeing

Five works. Five distinct readings.

The same object reads differently depending on where it stands and who owns it. Genesis does not categorise its audience. Each piece simply finds its own meaning.

Craftsmanship

The Craftsmanship Behind Genesis

Every Genesis artwork is the result of a carefully coordinated process, bringing together local independent craftspeople with years of experience in traditional woodworking, precision design and specialist electronics to create the vision.

The journey begins with the preparation of the solid American white oak plinth, individually measured, sanded and finished to bring out its distinctive natural grain and finished in natural bees wax.

A bespoke mounting system is developed using professional 3D CAD software, with each component carefully engineered to achieve the correct proportions, alignment and stability.

Behind the scenes, specialist electronics work transforms the original cooling system into a controlled kinetic display. Fan movement and integrated lighting are tested and refined to create a subtle, captivating visual experience.

An individually engraved metal plaque provides the finishing detail, before the components are brought together in the final assembly.

From the first measurements to the final inspection, every stage demands patience, precision and attention to detail.

The result is a harmonious blend of engineering, artistry and craftsmanship — where every component has a purpose, and every detail matters.

Genesis was created around a simple belief: extraordinary engineering deserves to be appreciated, not discarded.

I want to be absolutely clear that neither I nor Velora support, encourage or condone the illegal trade in advanced semiconductor technology. Genesis exists to document a remarkable chapter in technological history, not to celebrate the activities surrounding it.
Sustainability is equally important to me. By repurposing graphics card components that might otherwise become electronic waste, we give existing materials a new purpose and a longer life.
Our plinths are crafted from American white oak, a durable, renewable hardwood sourced from a species supported by established forest management and regeneration practices. Each is hand-finished with natural beeswax, celebrating the character of the timber rather than concealing it.

I believe in thoughtful design, responsible reuse, quality craftsmanship and creating things that are made to be treasured rather than replaced. Genesis brings those values together — preserving a piece of technological history while giving it a meaningful second life.

Not mass-produced. Not rushed. Built with genuine pride.
